In short: Wires, gas pipes, and water lines touching steel framing before the walls are plastered.
Check compliance before you buy
Electricians, plumbers and gas fitters install their respective services on separate occasions during the build. Checking separation between services must be done before wall linings are fitted.
Building inspection reports
Across Morayfield lock-up visits we recorded cables pressed against hot and cold water pipes, a gas pipe touching metal framing and copper pipes resting on steel.
Why wall partitions matter
Metal pipes rubbing against wiring can damage the insulation and cause loud banging noises.
The fix
The build team might use a clip, a spacer or a quick reroute. We inspect the areas requiring access during a stage inspection, checking for compliance with the approved drawings, engineering and the QBCC Standards and Tolerances Guide.
We do not give false guarantees
We do not test wiring or gas systems. We note any visible clearances so the tradespeople can fix them.
